Remembering Chuck

I met Chuck very early after joining J-Land.  Krissy, Val, Chuck and I had a in a buddy chat.  He was a friend immediately.  I've been reading his journal ever since.  Some of my favorites were the times he was making "chair art" in the wet parking lot of the Old Folks Home as he called it.  Chuck knew his time was short, but still told/wrote stories.  On of the most recent was a story about two little dogs:  Snap and Ginger.  We had just had a couple of puppies here and I wrote him to ask if I could borrow one of the names.  His response was an unqualified yes.  Unfortunately,  he didn't make it long enough to see a picture of our little Gingersnap.  He would have love it.  If you have not been reading  his journal, go on over and read the archives and his most recent entries.  He doesn't have to be here for you to fall in love with him.  Click here to go read:  Dribble by Chuck Ferris   Here he is on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjgIcFPsiq8
Chuck, we will miss you terribly.  Although your light has gone out here, your words will shine forever in our hearts.
Penny

I am so glad that you did this tribute Penny. I have been a reader of Chuck's journal a long time and I miss him terribly. He did have a lot of humor, him being so sick but hardly ever complained. This tribute brought tears to my eyes. I loved to watch the rose he grew make all the changes from a twig he called it into a beautiful bush and I believe it had roses when the others were gone for the season. He loved to go on his patio and look at them. I feel sad know his keyboard is stilled forever but his good memory still goes one. Helen

PS he didn't actually grow the rose but kept a close watch on it with pictures showing the changes it made. Helen

What a beautiful memorial to Chuck.  I did not know him well and going back and reading his entries now, I wish I had known him better.  I watched him on youtube.  What a wonderful old gentleman he was and always keeping his sense of humour despite all his infirmities.  He will be a great loss to J-Land.  Rest well Chuck.

Penny, Krissy and I are working on a tribute for Chuck in here, too.  Oh, how I miss him so... This is so beautiful!  He was my favorite gentleman blogger.  I didn't remember the moment I met him.  Was it in the chatroom with you and Krissy???  Wow!  Was that five years ago?  He was the kindest, warmest, most intelligent man and I will miss him so.  Love, Val xox

My favorite Chuck story is this. He kept us updated last summer about the rose in his garden and how it grew. Every few days he'd post a picture of 'Rosey.' Then he moved to another part of the home. This time he'd open a door and roll out to where there was a yellow rose growing. He talked about how pretty it was. I commented one day about how when I was little my Dad bought two rose bushes; a yellow one for me and a pink one for my sister. Chuck ran with that and named his new yellow rose 'Jude.' That was so sweet.
I felt bad at the end. When his friend died, he sounded so low, I just had a feeling he wouldn't be around much longer. I truly miss him. Cuch, rest in peace. Enjoy the roses.

|Hello Jeannette,
I chose to follow your Blog! I believe that we have much in common... J LAND, dogs {we have a smart, handsome Rottweiler male], love of God, the Bible and respect for our fallen Warriors, etc.
I would love to talk to you via email to get some of your opinions and thoughts on a few subjects. I can imagine how busy you are -- and I never expected to be so busy since I 'retired' from Chrysler after 30.5 years. I am also a Disable Vietnam Veteran: 69-70, and served with the 240th AHC [Assault Helicopter Company] as a door gunner. I just bought an guitar and hope to sing and play some Christian Hymns soon.

Warm Regards,
